Youth Advisory Council

Engaging Tomorrow's Leaders

The Downtown Development Authority of Monticello created the Youth Advisory Council in 2020. This student-led organization will advise the D.D.A. on youth issues and engage the youth of our community in problem-solving. The program is open to students in grades 7 – 12 who are enrolled in a homeschool program or private or public school in Jasper County.

YAC members will have the opportunity to elect their own officers, complete a community service project of their choice and participate in committee work. The YAC committees are Community Service, Events, Fundraising, and Promotion/Publicity. The YAC members will also learn about local government and public service careers by shadowing elected officials and county and municipal government workers.

YAC members are selected through an application and interview process. Applications for the 2021 – 2022 Youth Advisory Council will be available in April, 2021. If you are interested in joining or working with the YAC, please contact the DDA Director, Michele Celani, at 762-435-4158 or [email protected]
